Wedding To Do List
What you have "to do" before you say "I do"!
Congratulations on getting engaged! The next few months, as you plan your special day, will be a ton of fun, but also quite stressful. Everything needs to be accounted for, from the venue to the florist to the invitations. It's easy to quickly feel overwhelmed.
To help you remember what you need "to do" before you say "I do", please feel free to use the checklist below. We have been told by many soon-to-be brides that this list was a lifesaver.
Timing: You just got engaged
To Do: Book the wedding venue, the hotel for out-of-town guests, the band and the rehearsal dinner location.
Tips: Take care of the "big" stuff first, then relax for a bit.
Timing: 6+ months before the weedding
To Do: Send Save the Date cards (which of course requires an initial guest list). Purchase thank you notes for any engagement presents you will receive.
Tips: Your Save the Date card creates your wedding's first impression, so don't underestimate its importance.
Timing: 4-6 months before the wedding
To Do: Initial review of wedding invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, bridesmaid luncheon, bridal shower, etc.
Tips: For those who can't attend, your invitation is the only connection they'll have to your special day.
Timing: 3-4 months before the wedding
To Do: Prepare the final guest list. Order wedding invitations and wedding thank you notes. Find a calligrapher (optional).
Tips: Order extra invitations; you'll be thankful later. Leave ample time for the envelopes to be addressed.
Timing: 2 months before the wedding
To Do: Mail invitations: wedding and other events. Select seating cards, wedding favors and wedding program.
Tips: Weigh your invitations, including all your enclosure cards, prior to purchasing postage.
Timing: 1 month before the wedding
To Do: Order wedding program, seating cards, wedding favors and personalized cocktail napkins (optional).
Tips: Let your creativity shine through with your wedding program; it often makes its way home with your guests.
Timing: 2 weeks before the wedding
To Do: Begin to create seating arrangements and review the proof of your wedding program.
Tips: Consult your family when deciding on seating. They may know of family seating preferences.
Timing: 1 week before the wedding
To Do: Finalize seating arrangements and provide seating list to calligrapher and wedding venue.
Tips: Be ready for last minute additions and cancellations. Provide your calligrapher with extra seating cards, just in case.
Timing: Wedding day
Have fun, relax and enjoy your special day.
